About

Denise Augustine, MEd (Swee’alt) is the director of Aboriginal Education and Learner Engagement for School District 79 (Cowichan).  In keeping with her belief that the world needs the wisdom and gifts of the local indigenous peoples, Denise creates and facilitates experiential learning opportunities designed to build understanding of and value for local history, culture and worldview.

Drawing on the knowledge and experiences of her First Nation’s community and family, and with over 25 years of experience as an educator, Denise carefully weaves story and research together, inviting adults to open their hearts and minds and imagine a community that values diversity and inspires innovation.
